Invented by Abbe Warre one hundred years ago to provide a low cost, simple hive for every garden. The hive body is made of 14 inch square boxes, stacked vertically with slats on the top of each box to serve as a ceiling to which the bees attach their combs. This hive differs from others in that empty boxes are nadired, i.e. placed underneath existing boxes. This means that brood is always in the newest comb - ideal for good bee health.
